About
I am Valentina Černiauskaitė, a visual artist working at the intersections of contemporary art, publishing, and writing. Through visual and verbal storytelling, I explore the nature of time, memory, change, communication and perception.
Working with slow, analogue-based methods, I often use film photography, printed matter, drawing, writing, and textile. My practice reflects on the relationships between time, space, humans, and the natural world.
Cohesion and continuity are central to my work, with each idea and work series forming part of a larger whole. My artistic process is guided by attention, observation, intuition, and an ongoing response to the present and surroundings, as well as rhythms beyond the human scale.
Born in Kaunas, Lithuania, I currently live and work in Helsinki, Finland. I hold a BFA in Graphic Art from the Vilnius Academy of Arts and completed an exchange year at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki.
