Silences of Vilnius
2021
Duo exhibition at VDA Galerija Akademija, Vilnius
Collaboration with Juozapas Švelnys
Silences of Vilnius introduces silence as something that can be experienced beyond the absence of sound. Through audio recordings, a risograph publication and objects, the work traces the echoes, movements and imprints surrounding silence in the city, from traffic and noise measurements to the movement of wind through pedestrians’ hair.
The project approaches silence as an intimate and changing experience, shaped by attention to the spaces, rhythms and events that surround us. The collaborative process also considers the sentimental value we attach to silence, and the personal associations and memories it can evoke.
